Elf Ember Day 12

 December 20, 2020

Never play with fire!!

Elf Ember and the firefighters spent time today learning how scary matches and lighters can be. Never play with them because when a fire lights off it can lose control very fast. Elf Ember wants to see all of you safe from fire and injuries.

Elf Ember will see you all tomorrow!!

Congratulations to Mitchell Medlin, he was awarded Fire Fighter of the year with us at Archer Lodge Fire Department and ran the most calls in 2020.

Archer Lodge Fire Department

This morning We were dispatched to a water rescue along the Neuse River.

A walker on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail called 9-1-1 when they spotted a beagle puppy stranded on an island created by the elevated waters from recent rain.

Archer Lodge Fire Department was first on the scene, and called in Clayton Fire for assistance- Cleveland Fire Department was put on stand-by.

These three departments recently formed a Special Rescue Team that trains in specialty and technical rescues, including but not limited to; trench, confined space, high angle, and water rescues. Their training helps coordinate efforts to more effectively assist each other in these situations.

Archer Lodge Firefighter Jordan Pace, pictured holding the puppy, was able to calm the scared dog and remove him from the island.

The puppy was turned over to Clayton Police Department Animal Control Officer Kerry Barnes and is at the Johnston County Animal Services if you happen to know the owner!
